Alchemist Demands Soup

The alchemist hungers. Combine the four classical elements of earth, air, fire, and water in dozens of ways to procure what the alchemist demands. We hope you enjoy this puzzling series of brain-teasers!

This game was made lovingly with PyGame/Pyinstaller, so it has some performance issues, especially at higher resolutions. If the game is running slowly, try starting at a lower resolution.

This game was made in 72 hours for Geta Jam 6. It placed 1st in Innovation and Audio, as well as in average rating. It placed 2nd in Art and Gameplay, of 23 entries.

Stuck on a level? There are a few tools to help you out:

Codex (C): Press C to open your spell book. It will record the recipe for any item you have made in the past.

Restart (R): Press R to restart the current level.

Hint (H): If you're not sure where to start for a level, press H for a hint. It will tell you what ingredients you might need for that level.

water + fire = steam
water + earth = sprout
sprout + fire = pepper
sprout + steam = steamed vegetable
steamed vegetable + water = soup
soup + pepper = chilli
air + earth = sand
sand + water = beach
air + fire = lightning
lightning + earth = metal
water + air = rain
rain + sprout = tree
tree + metal = money
money + beach = resort
lightning + fire = explosion
explosion + metal = grenade
grenade + money = war

There are many more combinations than these, so many so that we didn't create enough levels for all of them, or they were cut from the game.  Experiment with combinations and try to find them all!
